Future Scientists of Pakistan
Meet Miriam.
If you ask Miriam what she wants to be when she grows up some of her answers might include: a teacher, a pilot, a fashion designer, or even a doctor.
At Shining Light Academy, our desire is that we equip our students with the skills, confidence, and academics that can propel these dreams into reality, and we believe that science education is at the core of this process.
Why Science?
The science education goes far deeper than just bubbling beakers, beetles in a jar, and magnifying glasses. The processes involved in studying science create lasting effects in the student. When you inquire, observe, andexperiment, you are developing skills that shape you into a person who will think critically and problem solve.
Science teaches kids to:
-
Form their own questions about the world.
-
Problem solve.
-
Gather evidence and facts.
-
Make an educated decision.
-
Use logic
-
Communicate ideas
These skills are crucial for adults in the future development and prosperity of Pakistan. This is exactly what the developing world, and nations such as Pakistan need desperately. Their future lies in the hands of these children, and if they will become people who are interested in the world around them, why things work they do, how they work, how they could work better, they are the ones who will provide solutions to their nations greatest needs; agriculture, technology, medicine, engineering, etc.
Shining Light’s Science Lab
In 2014 Shining Light Academy has plans to build an entire laboratory devoted solely to the purpose of Science. We want to create a space for them to be able to safely theorize, inquire, experiment, and question about the world around them through equipment, tools, and literature. With a targeted completion date of June 2014, we are aiming to raise $10,000 for the completion of the Science Lab building.
“We dream for our students to be able to say, “I want to be a ________.” and it be a reality. Through discovering, experimenting, inquiring, and problem solving, we believe our students can become the ones who are discovering renewable energy solutions for Pakistan, creating cures for diseases, and advancing technology in their nation.
Dream big Miriam! We’ve got your back.
