Ray of Hope: Cozette Crites

Shining Light International simply wouldn’t exist with out the support of our friends and followers. Everything that we do is made possible by your generous donations and commitment to the work we are doing in Northern Pakistan.

That’s why we’ve decided to celebrate YOU.  Each month we will be featuring a “Fan of the Month”  and give you a chance to hear from each other on what it is that drives you to be a part of Shining Light International.

Let us introduce you to our first “Ray of Hope”:

Cozette Crites

How did you hear about Shining Light International?

In 2008 I was living on the Western Slope and visited a church where Mike and Robin Gordon were sharing about their work in Pakistan.  I remember sitting during their entire message and just weeping when I heard about all that was being done over there.  Afterward I approached Robin in the foyer and I couldn’t hold it together! I grabbed her hands and said, “Someday I will be in Pakistan with you guys!”

What do you love about Shining Light International?

I have a burden to see people freed from oppression and be able to pursue an education. The vision of Shining Light, and being able to see the light on these kids faces at the schools in Pakistan shows me what a worth while cause it is.  It is not something that is a whim, or passing quickly, I can see that it is a long term investment and the staff are laying down their lives for this cause of bringing transformation.

What upcoming projects with SLI are you most excited about?

I get especially excited about the Women’s Vocational Training Program. It is imperative for women to be given the opportunity to dream and realize their potential to create. Business training and tangible skills are sustainable tools for women in Pakistan. These women can rise within their community and cultural barriers will be broken down.  I love that the Training Program is providing an avenue for otherwise oppressed women to experience liberty, freedom, prosperity, and hope for their futures.  I want to bless and support this endeavor in any way that I can!

What is one reason why others should follow SLI and stay up to date?

I’ve been following what’s happening in Pakistan through Shining Light for over six years now, and I have seen so much continued fruit. There are consistently new relevant projects and programs that are meeting the immediate needs of entire communities.  They are consistent in bringing change to the most oppressed people of Pakistan in concrete and sustainable ways.
